Day 8 – The Journey Home

Well, this one is going to be quick. Mostly because I am typing it up Monday morning, and am feeling decidedly ooky. I will spare you the TMI.

They called us off the ship a half hour early. Fortunately, we were already ready. What followed was the ever-exciting exercise of negotiating bureaucracy. Including standing in line for 45 minutes at the Air France counter, just to discover that we could only check in that way if our flight was leaving in two hours or less (it was three and a half hours at this point). We then learned that Barcelona airport does not actually assign a gate until about half an hour before the boarding time. Le sigh.

Paris airport was as equally dumb as last time. We arrived at the E terminal. They bussed us to the F terminal. So that we could run back to the E terminal, with only ten minutes to spare. I think they did it specifically to force us to go through security and passport control, since Barcelona has no passport control. Again with the le sigh.

On the long flight, I was lucky enough to be in the middle seat, behind a broken chair that kept ending up in my lap. Oh joy. (Hey, I didn’t say “le sigh.”) I couldn’t sleep at all.

On the upside, I did finish off the season finale of Warehouse 13 (a series that is working very hard to find its legs, and very well might next season). I also watched a few episodes of Farscape (which I’ve only seen bits and pieces of before). I’m pretty much just past where they introduce Chianna. So far, I’m liking it a lot more watching it this way than I did catching occasional episodes I couldn’t piece together. I can definitely see, though, why it ended up with a very narrow but very passionate fanbase.

We finally made it home at 8:00pm local. We ran an errand, grabbed some dinner, and collapsed into bed.

Today, we do laundry, recover from the vacation, pay much attention to the kitties, and get our puppy back. Ah, it’s good to be home!
